The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coral Reef Watch Program sponsored a three day (January 24, 2006) workshop hosted by The Nature Conservancy at Little Princess, St. Croix. The workshop focused on satellite remote sensing tools for monitoring thermal stress leading to coral bleaching.
The bleaching event that took place over the summer 2005, created a lot of alarm in term of what had taken place in the coral reefs of the Caribbean region. As a result of the workshop, managers and scientists are learning from each other about what exactly happens after the shock of coral bleaching event.
