El pargo perro / The Dog snapper (Lutjanus jocu)

Entre los pargos (Lutjanidae) del oeste Atlántico, las agregaciones reproductivas del pargo perro (Lutjanus jocu) son conocidas y documentadas para los arrecifes coralinos de Belice. Este pargo migra distancias substanciales en agregaciones transitorias para alcanzar los sitios tradicionales de agregación para desovar de Abril a Mayo (Heyman et al. 2001). (2001), donde ellos describen la migración del tiburón ballena (Rhyncodon typus) frente a Belice para alcanzar los sitios de agregación del pargo perro y el pargo cubera y alimentarse de los huevecillos derivados del desove.

Among the snappers (Lutjanidae) from western Atlantic, the spawning aggregations of Dog Snapper (Lutjanus jocu) are known and documented for coral reefs in Belize. This snapper migrates substantial distances in transient aggregations to reach traditional aggregation sites to spawn from April to May (Heyman et al. 2001). (2001), where they describe the migration of whale sharks (Rhyncodon typus) off Belize for reaching aggregation sites of Dog snapper and Cubera snapper and feed on eggs derived from the spawning.
